Local people are welcome to take part in many of these events and can contact the event organisers for more details – see the weblinks provided in the calendar. Whilst the calendar shows there is lots going on, there will always be stretches of The Ridgeway that are not busy with events – event websites give details of event routes so it is possible to see locations that will be busy or quiet whilst an event is underway.
I would also like to take this opportunity to tell you that donations from events held over the past two years raised enough money to fund surface repairs to The Ridgeway near Uffington hillfort. What was once an eroded, slippery chalk slope is now much safer and easier to use. A number of the event organisers donate £1 per participant each year to the National Trail Team to fund repair and improvement work – see event calendar for details of which events plan to donate this year.
If you have any questions or feedback about events on The Ridgeway, please get in touch. The National Trail Team and event organisers want events on the Trail to run smoothly and bring benefits to the local economy. We do not want to upset local people, so please tell us if things can be done better. Thank you for your help.
