Another Housing Development Proposal Hot on the heels of, and no doubt encouraged by, the Brier Furlong saga, predictions of further inexorable speculative development have proved all too accurate. Lonestar Development, on behalf of local farmer Brian Barnett are shortly to request outline planning permission for a development of 16 custom-built houses immediately northeast of St James' Court, with access off North Street at the entrance to the village. In contrast to WODC's opacity on the matter, the developer has now met with Parish Council representatives twice, as well as running their own online public consultation. We have taken the opportunity to highlight concerns over the impact of cumulative development upon the landscape and character of our village, the further strain upon already overloaded infrastructure, as well as flooding and highways issues. Outline planning permission is likely to be sought imminently, when ourselves and residents will have the opportunity to comment formally. In the meantime, we will continue to engage with Lonestar and WODC.
