Due to the official Easter Break starting on Maundy Thursday (2nd April), the April Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday 9th April, not Thursday 2nd as previously advertised.
The Parish Council listed The Red Lion as an "Asset of Community Value" with West Oxfordshire District Council some time ago. This means that if the owner wants to sell this asset as a "non-going concern" then it first has to ask the Parish Council/the broader community whether it would like to seek to buy the asset. The Parish Council has today been issued with a "Notice of Intention to Dispose of an Asset of Community Value" and has until 29 April to inform WODC whether the community would like to request a period of 6 months to raise the funds to seek to purchase the pub. It is now in the hands of the community to decide whether it would like to buy the pub. Funds could be raised through various mechanisms, including setting up a not-for-profit company or charity which could raise funds from the public for the purchase. The Parish Council will be discussing this at their meeting on 2 April 2015, and is actively seeking to find out what you, the community, would want to do. Please get in touch via email to [email protected], via our twitter feed, or through the postal address listed on the Parish Council page. Aston now has a second defibrillator - installed on the front wall of the village hall on Cote Road. The first one is on the wall of the Aston Repairs building at the square in the centre of Aston.
If you think that a defibrillator is required for a medical emergency, ring 999 in the usual way - the operator will know about the defibrillator, and if they assess it may be required, they will give you the number code to open the box. The defibrillator can be used by anyone without training, and will only work if its sensitive equipment assesses that the patient needs it. A contractor working on behalf of OCC Highways will be completing the works on the midmost culvert started last year: |
