There are reports of increasing problems with the foul water (sewer) drainage across the whole district. WODC members, including the members for Aston, Cote, Shifford & Chimney, want to hear of any specific problems you have been having in order to put pressure on Thames Water to improve their service and infrastructure. Please advise Hilary Fenton or Steve Good direct - their contact details can be found on the Parish Council tab.
The owners of The Old Chapel have submitted an outline planning application for the erection of three detached dwellings with associated garages and a replacement garage to serve The Old Chapel on North Street, Aston.
The dwellings will be accessed by the creation of an access road alongside the north side of The Old Chapel. The development of this site will also open up the future possibility of the redevelopment of the buildings and land at Home Farm, Back Lane, as the access road will be able to be used to access that site. To view the application, go to the WODC website - www.westoxon.gov.uk, click on the Planning & Building tab and search by application number - 14/1282/P/OP. Anyone can comment on planning applications - the WODC officer details to contact with a response can be found on the WODC website. The Post Office has considered the responses received to the consultation, particularly in relation to the opening hours and parking. The final decision confirms that, in the opinion of The Post Office, the current arrangements for three sessions of three hours each at the Fellowship Centre, Cote Road, Aston, are adequate for local need and will continue.
The decision letter can be viewed at postofficeviews.co.uk - use branch code 057137. Oxford Homes has submitted a planning application to West Oxfordshire District Council to refurbish the farmhouse on North Farm, North Street, and to build six new dwellings. Two of the new dwellings will be created by converting and extending the old existing barns.

I have been asked to let you know that there will be an increase in noise levels around the RAF Brize Norton area this week. A widely publicised NATO Summit will be held in South Wales on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September 2014. As a part of this summit a large number of NATO fast jet (fighter aircraft) will be conducting a flypast across South Wales on Friday morning. A practise flypast is scheduled for Wednesday morning. For logistical reasons these aircraft will be based at RAF Brize Norton. The aircraft will be arriving today and tomorrow and the majority will be departing on Friday and Saturday. RAF Brize Norton Air Traffic Control will be proactive in minimising the disturbance to the local population during the duration of this visit. Further information about the NATO Summit can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/nato-summit-wales-cymru-2014 Further details about the flypast can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/nato-jets-to-soar-across-welsh-skies-in-summit-flypast Kind regards Dave Howell LCWG Secretary |
