1st Aston Brownies
Please note that the Brownies are currently not meeting face-to-face due to Covid 19 restrictions.
However, we are meeting using the zoom platform. Please contact Brown Owl, Karen, on 07887974468. 1st Aston Brownies will be starting the New Spring Term on Monday’s in January, 2022 at the Fellowship Centre, in Aston, from 6 till 7.30 p.m.
We are very busy over planning a brand new and exciting Programme which includes trips out, and joining up with other Units, we also have access to Jubilee House Residential Centre which is the Headquarters of Guiding Oxfordshire, located at Stanton St John on the outskirts of Oxford, it is set in lovely quiet and peaceful location. This is a fabulous facility and includes a climbing wall, assault course, campfire circle, amenities block and purpose-built building complex with kitchen, toilets & showers, so it is perfect for residential holidays, camps, and outdoor activity days. Every Monday meeting is designed to be fun, and varied, with arts and crafts, cooking, games, visitors and projects. Brownies will be encouraged to work their way towards a variety of badgers, such as the Environment Badge, the Science Badge and there is even a Circus Badge!!
We also have plans in place for going to Camp, or a sleep over, participate in special events and day trips. A full programme of events will be handed out to all parents well in advance of our return in the Spring of 2022. We are also looking for parent’s participation, as you will appreciate myself and Unit Helper are both Voluntary and have full time jobs/Voluntary work to juggle around.
So, we are looking at introducing a "Parents" Volunteer Rota. An example of how this would work, is that a parent can see from the programme what we are doing every Monday, maybe a speaker is coming in to demonstrate First Aid for example, a parent might feel they could Volunteer that evening to assist us, so would be added to the rota for that particular evening, Volunteering does not have to mean a commitment of every single Monday, but if enough parents helped in this way it would really help the both of us. As a Unit we are also looking to recruit new Brownies, so please contact me on 07887974468, Many thanks, Karen. (Brown Owl)
