PRESS RELEASE

Tuesday 12 March
New playground for Aston & Cote wins National Lottery funding
Aston & Cote Community Trust is celebrating after being awarded £9,999 of National Lottery funding – a major contribution to our project to replace the playground for young children at Aston & Cote Village Hall, near Witney.
With the help of National Lottery players everywhere, the Community Trust has raised over £56,000 and has now placed the order for the playground, which should be installed in time for summer 2019. This has been a major success for the local community with funds pledged by 20 different organisations – from councils, local businesses and charities, to the National Lottery itself.
The new playground will replace facilities that are about 30 years old and becoming increasingly dilapidated.
The new playground will have swings, a roundabout, seesaw, interactive play panels and a dinosaur-themed climbing frame with slide. The equipment will also cater for wheelchair-bound children and sensory areas will help those with autism and learning difficulties.
Carolyn Simmonds, Chairwoman of Aston & Cote Community Trust, is thrilled to have been awarded the funding: “Thanks to everyone who plays the National Lottery, we will finally have decent facilities in the village for our younger children, including those with disabilities.”
Paul Farrow, the lead fundraiser for the project added: “We know that playgrounds are one of the best ways of increasing children’s levels of physical activity and we are sure that the new playground will also help with their social development and emotional wellbeing. The kids can’t wait to try out the new play equipment that they requested.”
Thank you to National Lottery players everywhere for helping us bring our play area back to life.
