Aston Parish Community Minibus (APCM)

Picture
History
The Minibus project developed from an original idea put forward by George and Liz Wiltshire early in 1996. After a favourable response to a survey, a committee was formed to organise financing and management of the project. With grants, fund raising, generous loans and advice from neighbouring parishes, a ‘Transit’ Minibus was purchased to begin the first ‘journey’ in the summer of 1996.

Sadly, George Wiltshire passed away in 2010, resulting in the need for a new Committee to be formed, including the election of a new Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.

Following the formation of a new Committee, one of the first tasks which was required was the on-going process of ensuring that, as a charity, the Aston Parish Community Minibus (APCM) complied with all statutory requirements, coupled with those of the Charity Commission.

In 2014 the aged, rusting Minibus was replaced with an LDV Maxus.

Services
Provision of the Minibus enables those parishioners who have little, or no, access to transport to go shopping and organise outings. Currently the Minibus provides the ability for shopping trips every Thursday to Witney.
New shoppers, of all ages, are always welcome to join the Thursday shopping trip.

In addition to the above, the Minibus is available for hire, on a self-drive basis, to any group, organisation, club or individual living within the “area of benefit” subject to conditions of hire.  If a driver is required we will endeavor to supply one from our group of volunteer drivers.
